CSA — Weekly vegetables shares
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a unique arrangement between eaters and farmers. By purchasing a CSA “share” at Journey’s End Farm, you’re investing in the farm at the beginning of the season when we incur the most costs. In return, you’ll receive a weekly box of vegetables (at 10-15% less than retail price) plus a meaningful connection to your food, the land where it is grown, and the people who grow it. Shares are “farmer’s choice” — they are not customizable — they change and grow with the season.
The 2024 CSA will run from June 1st through September 28th, with the possibility of bonus produce at the end of the season, depending on availability. We offer two sizes of shares. Large Shares are a good size for a family of four or a hungry couple, and are made up of 8-12 (or more!) different kinds of vegetables each week. Small Shares are great for couples or individuals, consisting of 5-7 kinds of vegetables per week. Examples of vegetables in a share: a bag of sugar snap peas, a head of lettuce, a bunch of carrots, a few zucchinis, a pint of cherry tomatoes, a bunch of herbs, etc. The availability of vegetables changes as the season progresses; peas are part of the early summer harvest, while peppers and tomatoes ripen in late summer. Please note that we do not grow potatoes or corn.
Choose between 2 pick-up locations for CSA shares. Meet us at the Wayne County Farmers Market in Honesdale, PA on Saturdays between 9:30am-12:30pm OR pick up at Journey’s End Farm in Sterling, PA on Saturdays between 3:00-4:00pm. If neither timing fits your schedule, you are welcome to self-serve at the farm on Saturday evening or anytime on Sunday. Please do not pick up later than 6:00pm on Sunday without making arrangements in advance. We strive to provide you with the freshest vegetables and do not want your share to wilt in the cooler!
If you plan to travel and expect to miss or reschedule your pick-up often, or if you will feel disappointed not to choose which vegetables you receive each week, the CSA model may not a good fit for you, but we would love to see you at the farmers market in Hawley or Honesdale!
For full or partial financial assistance, or to set up a payment plan, please add a share to your cart and check out using the checkout code FINANCIALAID. You will not pay anything at check out. We will work with each of you individually on a first come, first serve basis to determine when you are able to pay, how much you can pay, and if we can match the remaining cost of your share with donations. We can not guarantee that all financial aid requests will be filled. Please be patient with us as we do our best. Reach out to Lily at lily@journeysendfarm.org if you have questions.
If you, or anyone you know, is able to donate to help off-set the cost of a share for another member, we have created a donation link at the bottom of this page. (Reach out if you prefer to donate by check.) Donations will only be used to directly fund requested financial aid. If donations exceed need in any given year, donations will be earmarked and offered the following CSA season. We believe that quality food can and should be available to everyone!
If you prefer to pay by check (or cash), you can still secure your spot online. Add a share to your cart, and use the coupon code PAYBYCHECK instead of entering your credit card info as you check out. This will allow you to checkout without paying. Please make checks payable to Journey’s End Farm and mail at your earliest convenience to:

Questions to ask yourself before you commit to a CSA:
Do you like to cook with fresh vegetables?
Are you willing to try new vegetables?
Do you find that you enjoy most vegetables as long as they’re fresh?
Are you flexible with your meal planning and eager to substitute whatever is in season?
Are you excited by the element of surprise that comes with receiving a “farmer’s choice” share each week?
Can you commit to pick up your share weekly?
If you answered yes to these questions, then becoming a CSA member is likely a good fit for you!
