We've Been Sprucing Up
/
Strawberry plants will arrive next week. We needed a day when it wasn't raining so PPL could safely lower the power lines, and we also needed a day that wasn't windy so Andy could safely fell the two big spruce trees below the house. One tree was dying, the other would be more likely to blow down in a wind once the first tree was gone, and both were shading the new space for strawberries. Their trunks will be used for lumber and the branches for firewood at the sap house.
Ralph planted these trees in 1932. They grew to be 60 feet tall.
